Linda MacLeod, D.A. (nee Findlay), joined Highland Stoneware in 1976, the day after she graduated in ceramics at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. Her illustrative style of decoration has been an important formative influence on Highland Stoneware pottery. She has originated several patterns including Hens, Cat, Frog and Duck, and more recently Robin and Blue Tit, as well as many floral designs. Linda has learnt to control a lively – sometimes surreal – imagination, and any quirkiness has usually been more of a boon than a drawback. She is delighted to have been in a position to paint a range of humorous Pig bowls which the pottery sells to raise funds for The Autism Trust.
Despite the rigours involved in raising and caring for her family, there is nothing Linda enjoys more than working in her seaside garden, which she has tamed to an amazing degree. She also loves experimenting with baking, and often supplies her workmates with spectacular cakes and bakes which they are more than happy to appraise for her. Her optimistic, sunny disposition is a real tonic and the pottery is always a brighter place for her presence.
